The first step is always getting to know the couple. This is done through a detailed questionnaire regarding personal and medical details and looking at the records of past treatments. In addition, an ultrasound scan is performed to check the status of the uterus and the ovaries. Based on the history and scan, blood investigations are advised. These investigations are to assess the underlying cause of infertility as well as to check the health status of the patient.
