Am I infertile? Can I conceive? Should I seek help!

Fertility is often taken for granted and the common perception is that pregnancy will happen soon. But then that doesn't happen. This causes a lot of confusion, anger, denial, sadness and self-doubt.

The probability of conception is 15-25% in one cycle and approximately 85% of women under the age of 40 conceive within 12 months of trying. Therefore, doctors would advise you to stay calm and continue to try naturally for one year unless:

  • You do not have regular periods

  • You are unable to have intercourse

  • You and/or your partner have had treatment for cancer

  • You have had pelvic infection (such as Chlamydia) or pelvic surgery in the past

  • Your age is >35 years

  • Your partner's sperms are low or absent

If you are not sure do consider taking the advice of a qualified fertility specialist.
